Chordelio privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-10-06
Chordelio is a chord dictionary for guitar, ukulele, mandolin, bouzouki, banjo, cavaquinho, charango and cuatro, made by Tekartik, in France. It exists as an Android app, an iPhone and iPad app, and a web app at chordelio.web.app. This page says what each of them stores, where, and why.
No account
Chordelio needs no account and asks for no name, email address or phone number. Tekartik runs no server for the app and receives nothing about how you use it: no analytics, no crash reports.
On your device
The app keeps on your device, and only there:
- your settings: the instrument, the last chord and position, the theme, left-handed diagrams, auto-play, the language;
- the setlists and songs you create in the app;
- whether ads are removed, and a gift code if you entered one. A gift code is checked on the device itself, against codes derived from the device's identifier; nothing is sent anywhere.
In the web app the same things are kept in your browser's storage. Uninstalling the app, or clearing the site's data in your browser, deletes them.
Ads (Android, iPhone and iPad apps)
The Android and iPhone apps show a small banner on the chord screen, served by Google AdMob. To show ads, measure them and, with your consent, personalize them, Google may collect your device's advertising identifier, your IP address, an approximate location and how you interact with the ads. The app itself sends Google nothing about you: the ad request carries only fixed words about chords and music.
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the app asks for your consent with Google's consent form before showing ads, and Privacy choices, in the settings, lets you change your answer at any time.
- On iPhone and iPad the app does not ask for the permission to track you across apps (App Tracking Transparency); without it, the device's advertising identifier stays unavailable to the app and to Google.
- How Google uses this information: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
The web app shows no ads.
The ad-free subscription
Remove ads, in the settings, is a yearly subscription bought through Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iPhone and iPad). The store handles the payment: Tekartik never sees your payment details. On iPhone and iPad the subscription is checked through RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous identifier created by the app, your device type and the store's purchase records (revenuecat.com/privacy). The stores and RevenueCat let Tekartik see whether a subscription is active, never who you are.
The web app and this site
The web app and this site are static files served by Firebase Hosting (Google), which logs requests, your IP address included, to run and protect the service. Neither sets a cookie of its own nor uses analytics. This site remembers the theme you chose in your browser's storage.
Children
Chordelio is rated for everyone and is not directed at children under 13.
How long it is kept
What is on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Google keeps advertising data as its policy says; the stores and RevenueCat keep purchase records as their own obligations require.
Your rights
You can change your ad consent at any time with Privacy choices, and delete everything the app keeps by uninstalling it or clearing its data. For any question about your data, or to exercise your rights of access, correction or deletion, contact Tekartik through tekartik.com. You may also complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
Changes
This policy may change as the app evolves, for example when setlists can be shared, which will need an account; the date above says when it last changed. The current version is always the one published here.
